When she was born in Modesto, California, Ashley Rose Tacheira began looking. Her childhood was solitary and unobtrusive. Encounters with the world always led to creation: a poem, a drawing, a song. At the threshold of adulthood, she was derailed by chronic pain, but picked up a camera to make sense of it all. Her work, which often explores the absurdity of lived experience, is an attempt to be present, honest, and fearless.
